CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Veneti. 2nd century BC. Stater (Gold, 22 mm, 7.67 g, 2 h), 'au cheval-marin en cimier' type. Celticized head of Apollo to right, with strings of pearls ending in miniature human heads coming out of his own head and with a hippocamp above. Rev. Charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins with his left hand and long branch ending in a vexillum-like banner in his right; below, winged male figure to right.
